A philosophy only matters if it changes what happens in the treatment chair. Ours was shaped by Dr. Ryu Si-ho when the clinic opened in Sanbon, Gunpo in December 2023, and it guides the whole team, from reception to surgery. Here is what our three principles mean in practice at E&D Dental, and how they affect your visits.
1. "Always like the first day, walking with you"
The word "rang" (랑) in our Korean name means "together". We take it literally, and it is the reason this principle comes first. Your dentist brings clinical knowledge; you bring your own priorities, worries, budget and timetable. Good treatment plans need both.
What this looks like day to day:
- We present options rather than a single verdict, including conservative choices where they are appropriate.
- We ask what matters most to you, whether that is keeping natural teeth, finishing quickly or limiting the number of appointments.
- We try to keep the same care and attention on every visit, not just the first consultation.
- We revisit the plan when your circumstances change, and you are always free to ask for more time to think.
2. Whole-body health awareness
The mouth is connected to the rest of the body. Medications, blood pressure, blood sugar control and heart conditions can all affect how dental treatment should be planned. Our team's experience with general-hospital cases informs how we approach these situations.
For older adults and patients living with chronic illness, we:
- review your medical history and current medications before any procedure;
- use vital-sign monitoring during surgery and longer treatments;
- plan procedures such as implants for seniors and patients with chronic conditions with extra care around healing and timing;
- emphasize regular check-ups and prevention, because small problems found early are usually simpler and safer to treat.
3. Clear explanations, no pressure
Many patients tell us they have left other appointments unsure why something was recommended. We aim for the opposite. Before treatment begins you should be able to answer three questions:
- What is the problem? We show you your 3D CBCT images and intraoral camera photos so the issue is visible, not abstract.
- Why does it need treatment? We explain what may happen if the problem is left alone, and how likely that is.
- Does it need to be done now? Some issues are urgent. Others can be monitored. We will tell you honestly which is which.
We also explain fees in advance. Information about coverage is on our pricing and insurance page.
Comfort as part of the philosophy
Respecting patients also means taking discomfort seriously. Our 3-step painless anesthesia system is designed to reduce the sting of injections through topical numbing, cold numbing and computer-controlled delivery. Feeling more at ease makes it easier to keep up with regular care, and regular care is what keeps treatment simple. For patients who have avoided the dentist for years, this can be the first step back toward a healthy mouth.
